Eight school and network leaders – with varying experience across both district and charter schools – meet regularly with representatives from NYC Collaborates, the NYC DOE, and the New York City Charter School Center to delve deeply into issues affecting public schools across the city.

Since forming in the Spring of 2012, these individuals have dedicated time to learning one another’s contexts, and exploring some of the biggest issues on the minds of NYC educators and the general public: the similarities and differences between running district and charter schools; the district portfolio strategy; enrollment; and co-location and siting. Upon building deeper expertise, the Council will begin interfacing more externally, meeting with a variety of individuals and groups, and serving as both thought partners and thought leaders.
